Supply Chains Must Prepare For A Transition To Low EmissionEnergy Use
March 10, 2025
Mandatory reporting of climate-related risks, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and plans to reduce them started on 1 January for large companies in Australia. By 1 January 2026, large companies will also have to report on their Scope 3 emissions, which covers the emissions from all of the smaller businesses in their supply chains.
The energy that powers manufacturing, transport and a whole range of industries is the biggest source of emissions for most businesses, and one of the hardest for many smaller businesses to tackle. The South East Corridor Council Alliance (SECCA) is running a project with Business Foundations to help businesses in the Local Government Areas of Canning, Armadale, Gosnells and Victoria Park to map a pathway to lowering their emissions
This includes understanding what assets, such as understanding how they could modify and optimise their power usage to reduce costs, what alternative power sources such as solar panels and batteries are available to them and how they could prepare to participate a potential virtual power plant in the future. Western Power and Synergy are partners in the project as well.
