Introducing a business that is here to detox Australia, one family at a time!
Sisters Jennifer Lupton and Jane Wood joined forces to create Blooming Mandala. An online community resource for clean living. The duo have experienced many natural health benefits from following a chemical free, low-tox lifestyle. They want to support everyday Australians to make healthier decisions about how they live.
Jennifer and Jane have united to clean, nourish and protect the world we live within.
What year did you or will you complete NEIS?
We will complete the NEIS program in 2020.
What motivated you to start your own business?
Blooming Mandala began from our passion of learning how to live healthier lifestyles. This led to us deciding we wanted to share what we have learnt to help other busy mums’ make their own homes chemically clean and sustainable with minimal fuss. Being busy mums ourselves we understand their frustration and confusion surrounding the toxic chemicals contained in the products used in their homes that harm the wellness of their families.
How did you find out about the NEIS program?
Initially we were just looking for help in social media and marketing, a skill set we were seriously lacking in! We met with Carmelina from Business Foundations who suggested we apply for the NEIS program. After reading more about it we were stoked to find out we were eligible and even more so once our applications were accepted.
What was the most valuable information you learned in the NEIS training?
Arguably the most valuable thing we took away from the training is the resources. There are so many places such as ASBAS and all the different advisory services that are there to help small businesses with anything and everything! If we hadn’t come on this training, we would probably still be in the dark about these and wouldn’t have come as far as we have in a few short months.
What services and/or products do you provide?
Blooming Mandala is Clean Living Made Simple. Our website is full of clean-living resources for busy families with wholefood recipes, DIY cleaning and beauty recipes and information on how to make homes low tox and natural. We also sell natural and organic raw ingredients for DIY, a range of accessories such as jars and bottles and safe low tox premade household products for those that don’t have the time to make their own. Blooming Mandala, cleaning up Australia one family at a time.
What challenges have you had to face since starting your business? How have you overcome these challenges?
A real issue we have had is narrowing down our ideas into what are actually good choices to help Blooming Mandala grow. The NEIS training really helped us to clarify the best way forward and also decide what steps were needed to actually take effective action towards achieving our goals. We also have to remind ourselves to step back and focus on the task at hand to stay grounded and not get carried away with new ideas.
What have been some of the highlights of operating your own business?
A highlight for us is the feeling you get when you have a super happy customer who thinks your great and loves your business. I know that sounds a bit cliché, but it really does make you all warm and fuzzy inside. Another highlight is the opportunity to constantly learn new things and the personal growth we have both experienced on our business journey. Running a business definitely keeps you on your toes no matter what stage the business is at.
What is the one piece of advice you can give to others thinking about starting their own business?
Do your research before you start and once you start. Don’t give up!
“There are so many positive things we got from the NEIS training, including greater clarity on what we wanted to achieve with Blooming Mandala and how to get there.
Jennifer and Jane praise the NEIS Program for giving Blooming Mandala a push in the right direction and providing the clarity needed to get ahead of the pack.
“Our experience with the NEIS Program has given us greater clarity and direction in our business & personal goals and provided us with the resources to ensure we have the skills and help necessary to action our business plan and make Blooming Mandala a success.”
