About the Presenter

Lecturer
Andrew Pittway
Cyber Security Consultant

With over 30 years IT experience, Andy has been employed and worked as a freelance consultant with some of the largest financial organisations in the UK and Australia. He has seen how Cyber Security has been implemented by the “big boys” and is now passionate about educating small businesses on how to implement these procedures by adopting a pragmatic approach.

About the Course

Cyber-security is a growing issue for small businesses, particularly as we become more reliant on technology. Yet this is an area that is often overlooked by business owners, leaving them vulnerable to external threats.

Many small business owners believe they are not high-profile enough to be at risk for a cyber-attack. However, it is this sort of thinking that makes small businesses one of the easiest targets for hackers, with 47% of cyber-attacks directed towards SMEs.

This is not a statistic to take lightly, as 60% of small businesses that experience a cyber-attack end up going out of business within six months.

This workshop will provide you with practical and simple strategies that you can implement yourself to start protecting your business online and create a cyber-aware culture amongst your team.

This workshop is delivered in jargon free, everyday language that is accessible for even the most non tech-savvy business owners.

This workshop will cover:

  • How attackers launch these attacks to gain access to your information – their motivations and methods,
  • How to spot a potential attack and identify the “warning” signs,
  • Understand the importance of cybersecurity awareness and how you can change both your business’ mindset to be “Cyber aware”,
  • How to take some quick and simple steps to prevent attacks by implementing the Essential Eight,
  • Where to find concise and useful information to help you further.

After completing this workshop, you will have the knowledge and confidence to begin implementing good cyber security processes and procedures to mitigate the threat of a cyber-attack on your business.

Morning tea will be provided.
